About the Author:
Corey Brettschneider is a professor of political science at Brown University, where he teaches constitutional law and politics, as well as a visiting professor at Fordham Law School. He has also been a visiting professor at Harvard Law School and the University of Chicago Law School. Professor Brettschneider will discuss his new book is The Presidents and the People: Five Leaders Who Threatened Democracy and the Citizens Who Fought To Defend It. He is also the author of The Oath and The Office: A Guide to the Constitution for FuturePresidents, Democratic Rights: The Substance of Self-Government, and When the State Speaks, What Should It Say? How Democracies Can Protect Expression and Promote Equality. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, Politico, and The Guardian, as well as in top academic journals and law reviews. He holds a PhD in Politics from Princeton and a JD from Stanford Law School.
